Twelve years ago, Portugal eliminated criminal penalties for drug users. Since then, those caught with small amounts of marijuana, cocaine or heroin go unindicted and possession is a misdemeanor on par with illegal parking. Experts are pleased with the results.
This should be an interesting discussion.

One of Pixar’s ideas to show the public how animation works was to build a zoetrope, much like the one Studio Ghibli had made previously. However, instead of drawings, 18 different sculptures were made, and a strobe light was used as they spun around. This made each of the images freeze in space, creating the illusion of animation.

Eminent but by no means unimpeachable but still pretty awesome literary theorist Terry Eagleton on the contemporary God debate.
This really is the best- constructed and delivered criticism on the foundational assumptions of "movement atheism" that I've seen in a while.

The underwater images captured by photographer Mark Tipple are so unlike anything you've ever seen, it's easy to mistake them for scenes from another world. They belong to a series known collectively as The Underwater Project, and they are beyond spellbinding.

Every time Eric Wareheim of "Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job!" directs a music video, it automatically becomes the de facto greatest music video ever. However, the new video for Beach House's song "Wishes," off 2012's critically and commercially successful Bloom, may claim that spot permanently.
I'm sure opinions will vary.

Marina Abramovic and Ulay started an intense love story in the 70s, performing art out of the van they lived in. When they felt the relationship had run its course, they decided to walk the Great Wall of China, each from one end, meeting for one last big hug in the middle and never seeing each other again.
At her 2010 MoMa retrospective Marina performed ‘The Artist Is Present’ as part of the show, where she shared a minute of silence with each stranger who sat in front of her. Ulay arrived without her knowing and this is what happened.
