Destin from Smarter Every Day stopped by Orbix Hot Glass in Fort Payne, Alabama to explore a fascinating phenomenon called a Prince Rupert’s Drop. (Bubba note: We made these in class two weeks ago! They're pretty awesome.)
Yes, it's an ad for Kmart, but it's a good one.

This boy has an APTITUDE for trolling.
I can't tell if the commentators knew what they were saying or if they genuinely didn't know. (May be NSFW.)
German photographer Martin Rietze caught a series of spectacularly breathtaking shots of a volcano, shrouded in flying lava and electrifying lightning, erupting in southern Kyushu, Japan.

At age 17, Nikhil Goyal is the author of "One Size Does Not Fit All: A Student's Assessment of School" to be published in September 2012 by Alternative Education Resource Organization. Been a while since we checked out a TED Talk, but this one is worth it.
Is this rich kid the biggest douchebag on Instagram? All signs point to, "Yes."
This is just finger licking looking good.

A couple years old, but new to us, I believe. Cute 5-year-old saves dad and charms a 911 operator.

Twelve years ago, Portugal eliminated criminal penalties for drug users. Since then, those caught with small amounts of marijuana, cocaine or heroin go unindicted and possession is a misdemeanor on par with illegal parking. Experts are pleased with the results.
This should be an interesting discussion.
One of Pixar’s ideas to show the public how animation works was to build a zoetrope, much like the one Studio Ghibli had made previously. However, instead of drawings, 18 different sculptures were made, and a strobe light was used as they spun around. This made each of the images freeze in space, creating the illusion of animation.
No one has ever done anything like this and no one will. It is stupid.

Eminent but by no means unimpeachable but still pretty awesome literary theorist Terry Eagleton on the contemporary God debate.
This really is the best- constructed and delivered criticism on the foundational assumptions of "movement atheism" that I've seen in a while.

Mr Fréger was intrigued by the transformations of human being to beast that he witnessed in 18 European countries. They were, he said, "...celebrations of fertility, life and death and symbolized the complicated relationship between mankind and nature."

The underwater images captured by photographer Mark Tipple are so unlike anything you've ever seen, it's easy to mistake them for scenes from another world. They belong to a series known collectively as The Underwater Project, and they are beyond spellbinding.
‘Surf photography’s been around forever. I wanted something different.’
The apartment occupies the uppermost storeys of a late nineteenth century tower in lower Manhattan and had never been used as a residence before, so David Hotson was able to restructure the entire volume to create a quadruple-height living room, a glazed attic, indoor balconies and the two-stage slide.

An examination of some questionable events and circumstances leading up to the destruction of the Death Star, through the eyes of an amateur investigative journalist within the Star Wars galaxy. The focus is mainly on the connections between the people who created and operated the Death Star and those responsible for destroying it.
Every time Eric Wareheim of "Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job!" directs a music video, it automatically becomes the de facto greatest music video ever. However, the new video for Beach House's song "Wishes," off 2012's critically and commercially successful Bloom, may claim that spot permanently.
I'm sure opinions will vary.

Marina Abramovic and Ulay started an intense love story in the 70s, performing art out of the van they lived in. When they felt the relationship had run its course, they decided to walk the Great Wall of China, each from one end, meeting for one last big hug in the middle and never seeing each other again.
At her 2010 MoMa retrospective Marina performed ‘The Artist Is Present’ as part of the show, where she shared a minute of silence with each stranger who sat in front of her. Ulay arrived without her knowing and this is what happened.
The escape from the Death Star as imagined and voiced by little kids and acted by adults.
This guy should go pro. (Graphic, language, probably NSFW)
