Michelle Jennekes' pre-race warm up gets me anything but loose. If there was ever a job I would want, it would be to hold her blocks before each race.
I just wanted to take a moment and remind folks that 99.9% of the (good) content posted on Fazed comes from YOU, our lovely Fazed community! The other .1% of the (really awesome) content gets posted by the Admins (and Spanky posts 100% of the shitty stuff).
If you find yourself saying, "Self...there's nothing good on Fazed today!", just remember that there's no one to blame but Self and submit something! ::ASCIIheart::

We were recently asked by the LA Times Magazine's "I Like to Watch" blog to provide links to some of our favorite videos from over the years. Here's 5 that made the cut.
Got some old favorites of your own? Let us know in the comments.
Fazed's very own CalvinHobbes goes from nearly 3 feet of beautiful long hair to zero inches and earns a medal for Best Moby Impersonator.
Alright guys, it's a long shot, but lets see if we can help a girl out.

"I applied for "The Greatest Job in the World". It's a caretaker job in Australia where you pretty much get to hang out on a beautiful island and write blogs about your time there for 6 months. My video just went up and I'm hoping to keep it toward the top with the highest rankings so that maybe it will be noticed!"

A tribute to something near and dear to our hearts, in a style similar to Discovery's "Boom De Yada" commercial (from the Share Music You've Created Thread).
As many of you may have noticed, the site is/was unavailable for a while. The datacenter that hosts our two DNS servers is down due to an explosion and fire. So, while the Fazed server is happily doing its thing, nobody knows it because DNS is down. I suppose there's some wisdom in spreading your DNS out geographically. The more you know...
Update: DNS moved to a new server, so things should slowly start coming back for people. The IRC (chat) server and mail will be down until the problem is resolved, hopefully sometime tomorrow.
Fazer TheRyno665 became something of an icon around here after his epic forum thread dedicated to getting him laid. Since that didn't work out, maybe getting cast on VH1's "The Pickup Artist" show will help. Throw him a vote if you've got a second, he needs it.
Don't forget to vote daily!
Thanks to all fazers for making 2007 a great year! Special thanks to midge mckay for his rendition of Auld Lang Syne.
Slàinte Mhath!
The folks in the forum have created a thread about the CA Fires where people are offering help, places to stay, comments and advice, etc.
Good luck to everybody out there, it's a sad time for many people.
On November 5th, 2006, in the middle of the night, a thread was started in the forums on Fazed.net.
The premise was simple; a system was devised to allow users of the forum to anonymously send in confessions. Things they had done and now regret, past events in their lives, and simply things that needed to be said in the open. After a period, the received confessions were posted to the thread, and comments flooded in.
Five months later, the thread featured its 15,000th post, and is rapidly approaching the 20,000 mark. To ensure that confessions would continue, this website was created.
SpunOne is the guy flipping the charts... assign the rest as you see fit. (Strong language.)
Nine years ago, while slaving over telephones in Tulsa, OK doing tech support for a dialup ISP, I decided to register the domain fazed.net on a whim. I tried to get fazed.com, but someone grabbed it two days prior, dammit. Anyway, shortly thereafter, I started posting silly pictures that were circulated in the IRC channels I frequented, and blog-like stories about my boring life. Now, 9 years later, not much has changed. So, thanks to all of you for sticking around and helping out, even when things get a little thin. I've enjoyed the experience immensely, and look forward to doing more with the site in the future. -Adam
Fazer dhamangry has developed a little widget for Windows Vista (yea, sorry) that gives you some Fazed features in your sidebar.
A couple of months ago, Sir John Hargrave of zug.com fame wrote and asked if I'd be interested in reviewing his forthcoming book here on Fazed. I've been a fan for years, so it was pretty cool to hear from someone whose work I've enjoyed for so long. As you're about to see, the last time I didn't cheat on a book report was in junior high, so go easy on me. If you'd like to get a feel for what the book is about, you can read many of the pranks on his site.
Fazer danflurry's band "No Picnic" is releasing their first album, and has a pre-order sale going on. If you'd like to support a fellow Fazer, or check out some new music, head on over and see what you think.
Fazer Shanknuts is in the running to win a dream wedding! Please take a look and vote for him if you feel so inclined (Ellie and Shaun)! LAST DAY TO VOTE!
For the past several weeks, a bunch of the local Fazers have been helping our friend The Nieda (a contributing programmer/SQL expert to Fazed) test a new mail client intended to be run on mobile phones. If you've got a MIDP 2.0 compliant phone, and you're looking for a true POP or IMAP mail client, give vimoMail a shot. It's free to try, and only a few bucks if you decide you like it. We've been using it like mad around here since its early beta phase, and love it a little bit more each day.
Fazer iBgerd is out to prove he's the #1 Snakes on a Plane fan, and today, he's moved into the lead of the official contest. Please join us, vote, and help keep iBgerd at the top where he belongs.
UPDATE iBgerd is no longer in first, but please keep voting to get him back there. For the love of SLJ, he's got snakes on his m*****f***in' arm!

"I made a YouTube mobile account so that all Fazers could just randomly send videos from thier phones to it. Hey I was bored and thought it'd be a good idea. I guess it will be interesting to see what people upload... The email address is 04557619244@mms.youtube.com."
Many of you reported that the link we posted earlier today about the "giant hole" had spyware attached to it. We do our very best to avoid linking sites that contain anything of this sort, but there have been times when someone will notice a page of theirs is getting a ton of traffic, and sneak something nasty into it.
As always, please be vigilant when browsing the web, and do the best you can to protect yourself from nasties. We do what we can to screen things, but have no control over the content of a remote page, or how it may change after our initial screening.
It's been a little slow this weekend because I took a break from posting to implement some new features instead. I'll get some more goodies out here for you guys tonight.
In the meantime, for those of you that don't visit backwash very often, you should check it out. It's been updated to work just like the front page, comments and all. There's usually a lot more churn in there, and it's become a favorite for a lot of people. For those of you using RSS readers, we've got a dedicated backwash feed that looks and works exactly like the main page.
Also, thanks to some newish features in MySQL and PHP, time zone handling is a whole lot easier than it used to be. I've leveraged these new features to implement experimental support for user-defined time zones. If you're tired of seeing everything in US/Central, wander over to your profile and pick a new time zone. Let me know if you find any bugs. I tried to get a fairly thorough list of time zones in use by a majority of the world, but it's possible more need to be added.
For any interested developers out there, I'll go into a little more detail about the TZ stuff I used in the comments. This post should have been in backwash.
Fazer egojab has put together a neat page using the Google Maps API that allows Fazers to mark their location on the map. If you'd like to help us make it more complete, head on over and enter your information.
Update: We're finding a few bugs. I'm sure egojab will have a look at them shortly.
After several weeks of negotiations, I'm quite pleased to announce that Fazed has been purchased by a major search engine company for 5 million dollars. I've been told they would like to convert Fazed into a social networking site to help you connect with other people around the world. I've decided to walk away as part of this transition, and leave Fazed in the capable hands of its new owners. I don't know much, but here's what they've told me so far:
1. The site will be redesigned to make its appearance more modern. Every corner of every menu will be rounded, fonts will be bigger, colors will be even more pastel, and an official logo will finally be created.
2. Front page posts will now be completely driven by the community. Each and every one of you will have a voice in what gets posted with your very own vote. Each vote will be called a "fapp," and if a submitted item gets enough fapps, it'll be seen by the masses.
3. The forum will be replaced by an AJAX chat room. This will be a lot like IRC, except it will use HTTP which is vastly less efficient, but has a much higher buzzword potential.
4. Comments will be removed from the front page, and will only be viewable via RSS and XML-RPC.
5. Users profiles will be expanded to give each user their own home page. You can incorporate music, videos, and whatever else you might have to say or share. You'll be able to mark other people on the site as "friends," and their friends will be your 2nd friends. This can go as deep as 5 levels, thereby exposing you to like-minded people, and bringing a whole new level of social interaction to the Internet.
6. All submissions to the site about art exhibits in San Francisco will bypass the user voting process, and will be promoted to the front page immediately.
7. The site's domain name will eventually change to of.us. In the future, this site will only be reachable at the following URL: http://she.fucked.all.of.us.
There are many new exciting things to come as well. Sadly, I won't be joining you for these, as I'll be far too busy counting all my money, and possibly having sex with prostitutes in foreign countries.
It's been a great 6 years. Farewell.
-Adam
As you may have noticed, we've updated a few things around the site. If you haven't found it already, be sure to check out our "backwash" section. A lot of the stuff that doesn't make it to the front page finds its way there. There should be a lot more action, and a lot more crap. For the RSS users in the crowd, all those sections are available as RSS 2.0 feeds for use in your favorite reader.
And finally, the scrolling feeds have returned under the hot AJAXy "sites we like" section. An extra click is required, but there's a lot more variety now. If you haven't had a chance to view some of the sites in that section, give it a shot, there's some great stuff in there.
There's still a bunch of little issues and things we're working through. Writing 8 grillion lines of new code is bound to expose even our most minor flaws. :-D

It's been quite a week here at Fazed. I'm going to try something new by posting a list of some of our favorites from the last week, along with other crap. If you're just here to click on boobie links, which is basically all of you, you can skip right on past this post. It's just a bunch of pesky words anyway.
Dustin Hoffman's mewbs still give me a semi. How can something that looks so right be so wrong? (18+)
The scans of classic Nintendo Power comics made my Nintendo thumb flare up. It's like the gout, man!
Most guys would pay good money for an aggressive birthday beating from a gang of strippers. Some guys call the cops and get them tossed in jail, minus their stripper masks.
Even though it's heaven for trolls, justcurio.us was good for hours of fun. It also reminds us that people love to troll because it can be great fun, especially when it's anonymous.
The locals are having a crazy house party tonight (KC stylee!) to wish one of our friends farewell. She's leaving us to find better times in Denver. LAME! I've been tasked with the DJ (playlist) duties, and spent the last couple of days putting together the perfect mix. You can bet it's going to include at least one song by Fabio.
I'm a huge Sublime fanboy, even though it's not cool to like old music, and shows your age. I stumbled upon a recently released Sublime tribute album called "Look At All The Love We Found," and it's simply incredible.
The information about the BP "Thunder Horse" platform and its woes after Hurricane Dennis is my personal favorite this week. Not because they're having trouble, but because it's not something you hear much about, and it's such a massive and incredible operation. Thanks to everybody for the great information in the comments, I learned a lot.
The vintage 80's arcade pictures made me miss the simple days of having $5 worth of tokens at Time Zone in Santa Cruz. The same guy has pictures of his arcade token collection, which is every bit as cool. It's a lost art, and one I'm sad to see go.
This is Rosco P. Coltrane and I'm in hot pursuit! And to think, the actor that played "COOTER" objects to the new film because it's got too much sexual content. Does he have any idea how man socks were ruined by adolescent boys because of Daisy Duke?!
I'd also like to thank our sponsors this week who were kind enough to spend a few bucks to advertise with us. I'm especially fond of those "Chuggler" mugs. We drink more beers than Norm on Cheers.
Have a great weekend guys. I'll keep the updates coming, but weekends are always a little slow.
