Taking a week long road trip here in a few days.
Looking for suggestions on tunes that need to go with me.
Driving from Ohio to Denver, north through wyoming, through dakotas, mighigan's UP, down through macinac, and back to Cincinnati.

I was on a 7 day road trip in August. First song of the day, every day - Sister Christian by Night Ranger. Good stuff.
Mmmmm bop.
Hah, I'd only load hanson if I were planning a trip not to return.

I usually try to put on some ambient and otherwise low-key music, with some more uptempo music for when I'm getting tired.
Zero 7, Groove Amanda, and many other bands I can't remember right now.
I also spend hours making "mix tapes" with new and/or indie bands.
Problem with these is I like a song, but have no idea who sang it.

I'd definitely suggest a lot of different playlists. Nothing's worse than a bunch of sad songs coming on when all you want is something loud and upbeat (and vice versa).
Harry Potter books on tape/cd/ipod
we loaded up an ipod for a 6,000 mile trip with the books and it was actually pretty cool

Sweet Home Alabama ftw.
Bob Seger - Hollywood Nights, it's a good "Oh shit, I'm speeding" song
roadtrippin' - red hot chili peppers
Try, as much as possible, to listen to music from each area/city as you drive through.
I wanted to do that on my last road trip, but my route severely limited my choices.

Get Kirsten Dunst to make you a scrapbook and CDs for the trip.
I usually just put my ipod on random, listen to an ibook, or rent a car with xm or sirius if it's for work.

Arlo did another great storysong on One Night called 'The story of Reuben Clamso and his strange daughter in the key of A' that's not to be missed. You'll never look at forts the same way again.
There's a restaurant back at home called "Alice's,"
And every time I drive by there, I inform whoever's in the car with me
That you can get anything you want there...except Alice.
