I have to agree that that is about the nicest thing that could be said. 

It'll only be funny if you're familiar with Christain Bale's performance of Batman. Bale does an absurdly low and raspy, and monotone voice, speaking minimally, usually in cheesy one liners, or concise threatening phrases.

I, for one, could not understand the majority of what this kid was saying. Just me?

Christian Bale is indeed the worst fucking Batman ever. Batman is supposed to have a husky voice. He is supposed to speak softly, not grunt like a pro wrestler. He is supposed to be frightening because he is mysterious, not frightening because of his ability to yell in your face.

I honestly considered closing the fucking window when I first illegally downloaded and watched Batman Begins. His performance is terrible enough to ruin even the best movie.

And exactly what determines what Batman should sound like? Do the comics, which have gone like 50 different directions since his inception, have sound?

Perhaps, but The Dark Knight is easily one of the best films made in the past few years. If you haven't seen it simply because you dislike Bale's Batman, I would suggest to you that you give it a shot. I think Bale is a great Bruce Wayne, but I agree that his Batman is over the top; The Dark Knight was still an amazing film, with wonderful direction and great acting from everybody else.
